Most network monitoring tools have lots of data about your network’s performance. To benefit from this big data, you need to be pointed towards the things that matter most – the problems that can cause service disruptions and downtime. Well-designed visualizations will put you on the path to identifying and resolving network problems faster. We take a look at some visualization strategies in Mitel Performance Analytics that will help you zero in on the most important problems brewing on your network.
We know that 65% of the world’s population are visual learners, and that visuals are processed by the brain faster than text. So it’s no surprise that a well-designed visual can shorten our time to understanding the problem considerably. Take a look at some clever new visualization strategies in the latest release of the Mitel Performance Analytics network performance management tool.

Network Diagrams
Network diagrams team a customer-provided network topology with the latest device health status data collected by Mitel Performance Analytics. This approach shows you which part of your network is being impacted by a problem at-a-glance. For example, knowing that directory number 4101 is connected to a MiVoice Business and router impacted by packet loss can point you towards fixing these problems and predicting the impact on the user.
Voice Quality Cause Correlation
Voice Quality Cause Correlation graphs correlate data types to point you quickly towards the source of a problem. These graphs do the work of tying performance data points together for you, showing you, for example, what happens to call quality when call volume increases. A look at these graphs can give you strong clues about what type of problem you might be looking at – from overcapacity to a faulty switch.
Trunk Utilization
Trunk utilization gives you a fast and accurate picture of the traffic on your trunks. You can see the calls per hour across trunk groups and how many trunks are used and available. This visualization helps you to see when trunks are maximized, for better capacity planning. Knowing when it’s time to add trunks can help you avoid performance problems caused by overcapacity. Conversely, you’ll avoid the cost of unnecessary upgrades with accurate usage data. In the latest release of Mitel Performance Analytics, the data provided here becomes more granular and customizable, allowing you to easily view usage over a specific time period.
